Ain Dubai Observation Wheel on Bluewaters Island
Ain Dubai is the world’s tallest observation wheel, standing at 250 metres on Bluewaters Island. Officially opened in October 2021, it offers panoramic views of Dubai’s skyline, including landmarks like Burj Al Arab, Palm Jumeirah, and Burj Khalifa.
The wheel features 48 luxury cabins that can accommodate over 1,750 visitors per rotation. Each full rotation takes approximately 38 minutes, providing a unique sightseeing experience.
Constructed with 11,200 tonnes of steel—33% more than used in the Eiffel Tower—the structure is supported by legs 126 metres long, each capable of fitting 15 London buses inside. The wheel’s rim is held in place by permanent spoke cables weighing 5 tonnes each and longer than a professional football pitch.
The engineering feat involved over 9 million man-hours and contributions from more than ten countries. Two of the world’s largest cranes were used to assemble key components, highlighting the scale and complexity of the project.
